Monozygotic twins discordant for rubinstein-taybi syndrome.

چکیده
A pair of male monozygotic twins discordant for Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome is reported. Monozygosity of the twins was established using blood grouping, typing of serum proteins, isozymes, HLA, and chromosomal heteromorphisms. The twins are the first twin pair discordant for the syndrome in which monozygosity has been firmly established. The pathogenesis of the syndrome is discussed in relation to the occurrence of both discordant and concordant monozygotic twins.

Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome: Developmental Evaluation-a Case Report
Rubinstein Taybi syndrome is a rare genetic abnormality that includes such features as facial abnormalities, broad thumbs on the hands and feet, small stature, and developmental delay (including fine and gross motor, communication, problem solving, personal-social delays). This case report represents a 12 months old male baby, was referred for his Developmental Delay, and after investigations a...
متن کاملThyroid Hypoplasia as a Cause of Congenital Hypothyroidism in Monozygotic Twins Concordant for Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome.
Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome (RSTS), a genetic disorder characterized by growth retardation, mental deficiency, dysmorphic face, broad thumbs and large toes, generally affects monozygotic twins concordantly. Thyroid hypoplasia (TH) is a common cause of congenital hypothyroidism (CH) and often accompanies dysmorphic syndromes. A pair of female twins were admitted to our neonatology unit 16 hours af...
متن کاملDiscordant phenotypes in monozygotic twins with identical de novo WT1 mutation
Mutations in the WT1 gene, leading to Denys-Drash syndrome and Frasier syndrome, can also cause isolated steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (ISRNS). Previous studies have reported six pairs of monozygotic twins with WT1 mutations, including one presenting with discordant phenotypes with identical WT1 mutations being of paternal origin and five pairs of monozygotic twins presenting the same ph...
متن کاملA Case of Monozygotic Twins: The Value of Discordant Monozygotic Twins in Goldenhar Syndrome—OMIM%164210
Goldenhar syndrome is a rare developmental disorder characterised by hemifacial microsomia, epibulbar tumours, ear malformation, and vertebral anomalies. As monozygotic (MZ) twins are believed to be genetically identical, discordance for disease phenotype between MZ twins varies with craniofacial anomalies, cardiac, vertebral, and central nervous system defects sporadically. We report a case of...
متن کاملTrisomy 13 in monozygotic twins discordant for major congenital anomalies.
The occurrence of trisomy 13 in twins is very rare. We report a pair of genotypically identical twins with trisomy 13 discordant for major anomalies. This case contributes to the already published data on the contribution of non-genetic factors to the aetiology of congenital malformations in monozygotic twins.
